What is Inbound Marketing?

Inbound marketing is the process of attracting prospects before they ready to buy. The idea is to move them through the buyer’s journey with educational content. Are they aware they have a problem, do they need help evaluating alternatives or are they ready to buy? There should be content, tools and sales strategies at every stage.

By the time somebody calls, 60% of their decision making process is already made. The humble old salesrep no longer holds the power as far as information goes. Consumers now have access to everything they need to make a decision online and they now wield the power.

So what does this mean for marketers? We now have to own the research and decision making phase for our targeted audience and we do this via a methodology known as the Inbound Marketing Process:

Inbound Marketing is different to Outbound Marketing because it isn’t interruptive, pushy, it isn’t noisy and it aims to add value and educate whilst the prospect moves from becoming a stranger to hopefully a converted customer.

The prospective is searching and looking to be educated in regards to their purpose. Inbound works because it empowers them and positions your brand as the authority.
